Why register?

The Distance Development Team at the University of St Andrews use the information provided in this form to compile summary statistics such as the number of users and the countries they come from, which we use when applying for funding to support Distance. So, by filling in the form as accurately as possible, you are indirectly helping to fund the software.

We treat your data with full confidentiality and only publish summary statistics. The form will take you approximately 1 minute to complete and you are free to request that your details are removed from our records at any time by E-mailing us at distance@st-andrews.ac.uk. We believe there are no known risks; however, as with any online related activity the risk of a breach is always possible. We use Online Surveys to collect the infomation which is GDPR compliant; the information may also be downloaded to encrypted university machines or stored on a central file system at the university. The information will be stored securely for the life of the software.

If we were to find a truly critical bug in Distance, we would consider emailing everyone who had downloaded the software to tell them how to download a fixed version. However, we value your privacy and this is only used as a last resort.
